Andrew,

Yes, only Javascript alone should do that but i can't find anything related to that subject. My purpose is to preload a jpeg file before displaying it in a Browser. The jpeg files are big, from 600KB to 800KB and in some cases, 2MB. When the file is loading, it must show a progress bar or even just a % number of preloading status. Isn't easy ?

Thank you very much.

I'm not completely sure I understand what you are asking, but if you want a progress bar that displays how much of an image is loaded that can be done with normal Javascript, not Ajax. I don't have time for a complete tutorial but I will keep it in mind for future workshops.

Hi,
Here's one thing i would like to do with Ajax, it is the preloading of _one_ yes one jpeg (not multiple jpeg) with a progress bar, a true progress bar that count the data bytes per bytes. Please let me know.

There is a lot a progress bar for multiple preloading jpeg or gif files mostly small but a lot of them, it is not the same thing here.
